Network Outage Leads to Ouster of CEO in Canadian Bank
Laurentian Bank of Canada's chief executive and chair have both stepped down following a network outage last week that disrupted online banking services for several days. The Canadian bank said Monday Michael Mueller resigned as a director and chair and Rania Llewellyn will leave immediately as president and CEO.
Eric Provost who has been appointed president and CEO said his immediate priority in the new role will be to rebuild the trust of customers and address the impacts of the mainframe outage that occurred. The newly-appointed CEO said the bank would reverse all monthly service fees for September and despite it being a federal holiday on Monday, a number of bank branches would be open. The bank also plans to extend branch hours for the remainder of the week. The outage has lasted a week and even on Monday all services were not fully restored.
