Ransomware Group Threatens to Expose Confidential Deloitte Data
In a move that has the potential to adversely affect Deloitte UK’s corporate clients, confidential business information, client data, and financial records, the ransomware group Brain Cipher, claims to have exposed critical vulnerabilities in Deloitte UK’s cybersecurity infrastructure. The ransomware group claims to have accessed and stolen compressed data exceeding one terabyte in volume, raising serious concerns about data protection practices at one of the “Big Four” accounting firms.
Brain Cipher has threatened to release evidence of alleged security protocol violations at Deloitte, analysis of contractual agreements between Deloitte and its clients, and details about the firm’s monitoring systems and security tools. These threats if valid and if executed may deal a very heavy blow to the firm’s professional reputation.
