With the 2024 Presidential election here, Jen Easterly, the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has been reassuring the country that the election infrastructure has "never been more secure”. She acknowledged the fact that disinformation campaigns were being propagated by foreign adversaries. However, she emphasized CISA's commitment to debunking these myths by saying, ‘We are going to lean very far forward when we see inaccurate information that could undermine Americans trust in elections."
CISA is also responsible for advising election officials on the physical security of their election. She said that events such as the denial of service attacks against the Georgia Secretary of State's office are expected to happen but voters should be assured there is no impact on their elections. There are cybersecurity threats that need to be dealt with, or criminal activity like fraudulent registrations that need to be investigated, and the perpetrators be held criminally accountable and according to Easterly, Election officials are prepared for this.
