Transmission of Paris Olympics Disrupted by Internet Outage

Fiber optic internet cables across France have been cut in an apparent act of sabotage, resulting in internet outages across the country and disrupting the transmission of the Olympic games.

Major French telecom firms Bouygues, SFR, and Free were all affected by the attacks as the vandalism hit several departments. Cables were affected in six different departments, two of which are in the north and the other four in the south along the Mediterranean coast.

France’s outgoing Junior Minister for Digital Affairs, Marina Ferrari, condemned the attack calling them “cowardly and irresponsible acts.” Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
