Cyberattack at Christie’s Interferes with Watch Auction
Christie’s, the 258-year-old auction house was the target of a cyberattack. It is unknown who or what caused the auction house’s computer systems to collapse. Christie’s called it a “technology security issue,” but the company has been hacked previously. Christie's CEO Guillaume Cerutti said that taking down the website was "proactive protection" against "a technology security incident." Christie’s staff and cybersecurity contractors have scrambled to fix the issue.
