Internet Outages All Over Nepal

Large parts of Nepal have been facing broadband outages because private Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Nepal have been unable to pay their Indian vendors for months as the Nepali government has not provided them foreign currency from the banks to make the payments. The Nepali government has been refusing to do so until the private ISPs clear taxes on certain services they provide. The private companies say they are exempt from such taxes.

Private internet service providers in Nepal issued notices saying their services were either disrupted or connections were slow. The large ISP of Nepal like Wlink Communications have blamed the government for the disruption. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
